We like to go to the movies here in Mexico but when it is an English movie I won’t go unless it is in English as I know the actor voices.  We do go to some Spanish movies but I tend to gravitate to comedy, romance or a little drama.

So we had seen Un Padre No Tan Padre and I even have it on Netflix.  It is a comedy with a little romance and even some sadness.  It is also a mix of Spanish (predominantly) and English.

The movie is mainly set in the city of San Miguel de Allende which is classified as one of the Pueblos Mágicos de México.

Don Servando Villegas is an old-fashioned Mexican patriarch who gets kicked out of his retirement home for bad behavior.  His estranged son, Francisco is forced to take him into his house full of unique individuals that he also shares with his girlfriend and young son.  New age collides with old as Don Servando and his son Francisco experience a series of conflicts and situations that put their home’s stability in jeopardy.  Don Servando also learns some important life lessons along the way.

Un Padre No Tan Padre is a story about family, not just the one we are born into but also the one we create along the way.
